WPC-ETA Approval

Introduction

The Wireless Planning and Coordination (WPC) Wing was created in 1952. It comes under the Ministry of Communications and it is the National Radio Regulatory Authority responsible for Frequency Spectrum Management, including licensing and caters for the needs of all wireless users (Government and Private) in the country.

WPC is divided into three major sections like Licensing and Regulation (LR), New Technology Group (NTG) and Standing Advisory Committee on Radio Frequency Allocation (SACFA).

WPC wing issue ETA (Equipment type approval). Equipment type approval requires before importing any wireless device in India that works in the de-licensed frequency band. Such equipment includesmobile/ computing devices viz. as mobile handsets, smart phones, electronic notepads, laptops, Smart watches, Short Range Devices including accessories, microphones, speakers, headphones, earphones, printers, scanners, cameras etc.

Basic Requirement for ETA (Equipment type approval):-
  • Product working in de-licensed frequency bands as per the Gazette notifications released by the Ministry of Communication
  • Product exempted from the import licensing requirement as per DGFT’s import policy
Documents required for ETA (Equipment type approval):-
  1. GST Certificate
  2. Certificate of Incorporation
  3. Company PAN Card
  4. PAN Card of Authorized person
  5. Radio Frequency test report from ISO 17025 accredited foreign lab or any NABL accredited Indian Lab
  6. Authorization letter
