FMCS:

FMCS (Foreign manufactures certification scheme) is a scheme under which BIS Licence is granted to a foreign manufacturer. This scheme enables the foreign manufacturer to use the standard mark, which is also called ISI Mark, to sell their products in India.

The licence is granted for the products which comes under to relevant Indian Standards. BIS is granted for products manufactured in a manufacturing premises.

BIS STANDARD MARK (ISI MARK):

The ISI Mark certifies that a product conforms to an Indian Standard developed by the Bureau of Indian Standards. Licence number “CM/L-XXXXXXXXXX” is also required to be indicated suitably on the products along with BIS Standard Mark.

WHO CAN APPLY:
  1. The manufacturing unit should be Outside of India.
  2. The manufacturing unit should be Ensure conformity of their product(s) to applicable Indian Standard Specifications (ISS).
  3. The manufacturing unit should be all manufacturing machineries/facilities at their factory premises.
  4. The manufacturing unit should be have all arrangements/equipment in their factory premises for testing of the product(s) as per applicable ISS.
  5. The manufacturing unit should be have competent testing personnel in their lab to test the product(s) as per applicable ISS.
  6. The manufacturing unit should be accept the Scheme of Testing & Inspection (SIT) and Marking Fee.
  7. The manufacturing unit should be accept the Terms & Conditions of licence.
PROCESS OF FMCS:
  • Fill-up the prescribed Application Form along with necessary documentation.
  • Submission of BIS Application
  • Audit by BIS
  • Testing of sample in BIS approved laboratory
  • Grant of BIS License
